Stephen S. Hall

Science Writer

Stephen S. Hall has been a science writer since the mid-1980s, specializing in molecular biology, genetics, biotechnology and cartography. Over that same period, he has written six contemporary histories of science and published stories in virtually every major scientific journal and general interest magazine, including the New York Times Magazine, the New Yorker, the Atlantic Monthly, National Geographic, Smithsonian, Nature, Science, Discover, Scientific American, and many others. He received the AAAS Kavli Foundation science journalism award for the story “Editing the Mushroom” (featured on Showcase) and currently teaches at New York University.
